Tribes urged to spend politically
From Indianz.com

At the annual meeting of the National Indian Gaming Association in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Pechanga Band of Mission Indians Chairman Mark Macarro on Monday told tribes to spend more money on politics.

Macarro said participation in the political process is necessary in light of attacks on Indian gaming. He said California tribes have spent $80 million alone to promote gaming in his state.

Congress is currently considering a bill that would limit large money contributions tribes like the Pechanga have made to national political parties and political action commitees (PACs). The campaign finance reform bill passed the Senate last week.
